SSX Deadly Descents Delayed – But Worth the Wait!

If, like me, you are one of those people who played your previous SSX games until the disk literally disintegrated (for me it was SSX Tricky) then you are probably just as anxious to get your hands on a copy of SSX Deadly Descents.

Unfortunately EA has decided to delay the release till February 2012. And then, to make the suffering even worse, they released a new trailer for the game that will have all SSX fans weeping into their controllers tonight as they dream of the hours of fun they could be experiencing…thanks EA…

One aspect of the new game you can definitely look forward to is total freedom – unlike previous SSX games where you were more or less confined to specific areas of the mountain or run you were skiing on, in Deadly Descents you can go pretty much anywhere (as highlighted in this article by IGN):

Once on the mountain, the artificial barriers that constrained your exploration in past SSX games are gone. It certainly looks like EA is creating a landscape to find the lines that excite you, and getting around the mountain is pretty interesting. One option is to leap towards a helicopter, grab on, and ride it somewhere else. This connects you to different trails seamlessly and just having an action this silly shows that the wacky ways of SSX aren’t being left behind. You can also deploy your wingsuit (think flying squirrel) to get a temporary glide to make longer jumps.

If you are interested in finding out which of your favourite characters made it into the new game, you can check out EA’s official Facebook page. Some of my personal favourites are back for another round – Kaori, Moby, Psymon and Zoe (Elise is there too but I never liked her much) as well as a few faces I’m not familiar with.

All in all it looks like the game is going to blow our minds and, hopefully, make the wait worthwhile!
